Obituary for Catherine Deering Worland:
Died, in the vicinity of Clinton, in Monroe Co., Mo., on the 12th day of December 1865, after a protracted illness, Mrs. Catherine Teresa Worland, in the 69th year of her age.
Thus has the autumnal frost swept from our midst the parent stem, and left the quivering twig to the cold dews of an uncharitable world. But like the children that were admonished by the Prophet Osea in their affliction: "We will use again; come let us return to God, for he has stricken us, and he will heal us. He will strike us and he will cure us". Happy reflection to a sorrowing heart. Dear Mother thou hast left us! Though sad and sorrowful, we submit to Him that doeth all things well. Our loss is your eternal gain, believing that you have gone to receive that reward your christian virtues so justly merit.
