Nelson Branch buys out interest of James and Lucinda Curtis in the 8 ¼ acres
they bought together in 1851.
This Deed made this 24th day of November in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty four between James P. Curtis and Lucinda his wife of the one part and Nelson T. Branch of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James P. Curtis and Lucinda his wife in consideration of the sum of two hundred and seventy Dollars in hand paid to the said J.P. Curtis the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have sold to the said N. T. Branch and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey all of their entire interest in & to a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Pulaski on the waters of Fall Branch adjoining the land of S.W. Shelburn and containing by recent Survey eight and one fourth acres, and twenty one poles including a saw mill, Dwelling house & Foundary &c and bounded as follows. Beginning at an Ironwood bush on the South side of the Fall branch at the upper end of the pond thence North 23° E9 poles crossing said pond to a hickory sapling thence North 5 West 20 poles up the hill with a fence to a black oak bush in the fence corner thence with an other North 89 ½ West 41 poles to a black oak and White Oak sapling an Newby’s line, thence South 45 East 16 ½ poles to black stump & Dogwood thence S45 West 15 poles crossing the Creek to a White oak thence S45 East 35 poles to a large White Oak near a fence thence North 45 East 15 poles a direct line to the Beginning. And the said James P. Curtis & Lucinda his wife do hereby convey the above described with general warranty.

State of Virginia County of Pulaski to Wit:
We George Farmer and Lewis Rupe, Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid, do certify that James P. Curtis & Lucinda his wife whose names are signed to the writing above personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same and the said Lucinda Curtis being by us examined privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Lucinda Curtis acknowledged the said writing to be her act and declared that she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it.
Given under our hands & seals this 24th day of November 1854.

Virginia:
In the Clerks office of Pulaski County the 19th day of December 1854. This Deed from J.P. Curtis to N.T. Branch dated the 24th day of November 1854 was returned to said office and with the certificates of acknowledgement & privey examination endorsed thereon admitted to record.
