Mrs

Dear Sir in reply to your letter of April 14th 1908 in regard to fathr Proof of any military Service in the war between the states.  I was in the Services of the Confederate States as my application shos from some time in April 1862 untill the Close of the Wore.  I was detailed to work fa the Confederate Government mining Iron ore: was armed Just like the men in the field and had to report for active Service when ever call and go where ever ordered.  Stay in camp when ordered to do so or go back to the mines.  Sometime we, that is all the men that worked with me.  The last time that we were ordered out we stayed in camp until the end came.  We reported to Col. R. D. Gordiner at Dublin Va. the last time that we were ordered out.  That is we were ordered to report to the Commant at Dublin Va. Almost every time we were ordered out to camp we were at Dublin Va when its end came though we were disbanded near Christiansburg Montgomery County Va.

I hope that this will be sufficient.  I will enclose a letter written by a neighbor of mine that has known me all of his life.
